The Schnitz Truck in action (photo from MidtownLunch.com).

Oh, the humanity.  I recall as a young boy visiting Austria and having a brief, torrid love affair with schnitzel while on a ski trip.  The pounded, breaded and lightly fried deliciousness has since existed only in spirit in the vacant hole in my stomach where true, schnitzely love once resided.

Rewind about seven months to my week-long vacation to Los Angeles, where I was introduced on several nights to the late night magnificence that is the Kogi Taco Truck — OK, it was actually one of the knock off Korean barbecue trucks, but it was still amazing.  Peking duck tacos equals heaven at 1 a.m.

I’d not yet strayed into the world of high end New York food trucks as my employer has a pretty decent (and subsidized) cafeteria and there’s a Chop’t Salad Company right nearby.  Pretty darn convincing arguments for food service, right there.  But a few weeks ago as discussion of the Vendies street food awards was ramping up, I started to take notice.

I’ve settled into a nice niche with respect to Twitter news.  Yes, you can get some breaking stories truly from the masses via Trending Topics, but I also rely on two specific sources for news updates.  One is for headlines and the other is for commentary.

Go Dores.

You can follow the brash band of Commodores using my Twitter list of the Dores’ feeds or by simply picking out the ones you’d care to follow.  If you’re a fan of VU baseball, Twitter is an interesting way to get in the mind of the players.  Most of the guys don’t update that much, but a few folks like Sonny Gray (@SonnyGray2) and Drew Fann (@DrewFann) are Twitter champions.

There aren’t necessarily any particular tweets that make you point to these kids and say “that’s why I follow them.”  It’s the course of the season, the year and the journey that leads guys like Anthony GoGo Gomez (@AnthonyG13) to being a future star like David Price (@DavidPrice14).

What possible person could combine the following traits: i) local Nashville celebrity, ii) radio personality, iii) born-again Christian, iv) pimp and v) looks like the Black Adder?  Give up?  There’s only one and he’s SportsXtra host and friend of this blog, Henry Nichols.

Steve Tchiengang might be the baddest mofo on an SEC basketball court, but he’s also a nice, kind and generous soul off the court.  That’s reflected on his Twitter account which he updates regularly.

Steve really brought the pain in both games against Kentucky, playing hard, physical defense and pounding the boards.

Sometimes his posts are just a little hard to follow without context:

How bout this monkey on sportsnation that is waiting? Kind of freaky.

@AWalk24 u ain’t going to like it much if u keep playing with me hahah. Give me tht Jesus piece n I will stop bothering u.

But mostly they’re just reflective of the awesomeness that is Steve T:

I’m mesmerized by what I’m watching in this class. There are some crazy stuffs in this world.

Bout to take off heading back to Nashville. This how the Dores roll http://twitpic.com/15phqm

An american man kicked off the plane for smelling bad… Thts funny n terrible hahahah

a friend asked me “who u play on saturday” n i say “UK” and she replied “Why are u going all the way to United Kingdom?” tht made me laugh

If you want to follow a kickass athlete with a positive outlook on life and a penchant for updating the Twitter world on the everyday goings-on of a true student-athlete, you need to follow Steve T.

This is a character you’re likely to not know unless you’re a participant in college sports message boards.  On the Rivals.com network, in particular, LSUFreek is legendary for providing hilarious animated GIFs.

Terrance Donnels (the man behind the screenname) was recently granted his own domain on SportingNews.com to further distribute his images and thoughts.  You can visit that site here, but really all you need to do is follow his Twitter feed @LSUFreek.

Linked after the jump are some of my favorite LSUFreek animated GIFs.  There are a ten of them, so it may take a second to load. Read more…

Do you really need much incentive?  If you’re not already aware of @OliviaMunn, you’re a) not watching AOTS, b) not aware of hot chicks on interwebs and c) in major need of rectifying a) and b) .

I’m never really quite sure if Olivia fully fits into the “geek” realm, but even if she can’t qualify for some cred there, she definitely would fall into the Weird Science category of near perfect creation.  And, to make it even better, she actually has a great sense of humor to go along with being ungodly good looking.

Her Twitter feed is a great way to access her amazing stream of Twitpics and she’s been quite amusing and sometimes vulgar, from time to time.

And while you’re at it, follow me @WhenItStrikesMe and @Quotably.

It even looks like Strunk and White.

One of the more inventive and enjoyable of the “meme” style twitter accounts is the one that launched to great fanfare during the start of my Twitterati tenure.  The Fake AP Stylebook brings far more consistency than @FakeMTA and far more wit than @ShitMyDadSays.

Functionally, what it does is post several witty style rules and best practices throughout the day.  These include general publication rules to writing and journalism dos and don’ts.

While sometimes they dip into something topical, it’s the random ones which you’d never think of that get me every time.  Whoever is penning this is quite the clever one.

It doesn’t hurt that I’ve always had a Large Hadron for writing guides, though I seemingly never pay any heed to what I learned in them.  Strunk and White is one of those things that no child should be without.  In fact, I’m hoping one of my Christian friends will start a charity to help deliver copies of the book to needy orphans in Uganda.

Landing a $60M valuation is actually probably not as impressive as landing 1,160,000 followers on Twitter.

A $60M valuation is not as impressive as 1M+ Tweeps.

He may not be as funny as prior Follow Friday nominees, but @KevinRose is a pretty surefire Twitter user worth clicking on.  His posts are informative, if sometimes restricted to the insular Bay Area Web 2.0 community.

His podcast on Diggnation is probably the best there is and Digg is my social bookmarking site of choice.  The only negative is that when he was hosting Attack of the Show, Olivia Munn was not yet on it.

Following Kevin gives you some decent insight on what’s going on in the tech world, especially the online elements.  And if you don’t follow the Diggnation podcast he does with Alex Albrecht, you ought to.  It’s a free subscription on iTunes.

All in all, there’s a reason Kevin has one of the most followed Twitter accounts on the web.

I’m a big Jay Cutler fan.  I always have been.  Heck, back in 2005, I took to calling him Jesus H. Cutler.  But there is no way to sweeten the current reality.  The guy has been brutal as a Chicommodore Vanderbear.

And that pain makes it pleasant to laugh, even if at Jay’s expense.  One such way to laugh is to follow @NotJayCutler on Twitter.

Youll note that Jay doesnt say hed never hit a phone booth (even if hes just covering up for a teammate).
