World Cup Draw
So today’s draw has come in and FIFA has done right by the United States with an easy group. Not so much with Ireland, who can whine all they want but there is no instant replay for Thierry Henry’s handball.
I'll be watching Group G with great interest, as well.
My teams are the United States and beloved Greece. The US should be able to advance out of Group C, perhaps even setting down an epic smackdown on the Brits. Greece will be more hard pressed, but I have confidence that they can bring a steady stream of culture to the game. So long as neither Nigeria nor South Korea manages a steady attack, our defensive styling could carry us through the group.
Isn’t Group B an exact duplicate of a 1994 group? That’s pretty remarkable — not least because Greece doesn’t make that many WC finals. SK and Arg are pretty constant so you’d expect them to play against each other a lot, but for an exact group to be duplicated strikes me as pretty unlikely.
US got their best draw in a long long time, that’s for sure.
I don’t recall if its a duplicate, would have to look. But I like the group. Obviously, the US one is fantastic. They just better not flop.
